Susan
J. Barrett, DVM
Dr. Barrett oversees the emergency department here at
CVREC. She is originally from Michigan, and graduated magna cum laude
with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University.
After careers in chemical engineering, software development and software
project management in Manhattan and New Jersey, she relocated to Ohio
to pursue her third career in veterinary medicine. She graduated from
The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine summa cum laude
in 1997. Dr. Barrett worked in a general practice for her first three
years of practice, but then followed her passion for emergency medicine
at a busy emergency/critical care facility in Florida for the following
2.5 years. She joined Dr. Lightner and Dr. Matthews in starting the
emergency department of CVREC in 2003. Dr. Barrett's animal family consists
of two dogs, Daisy and Nellie, and four cats: PJ, Danny, Mitch and Mike.
Therese Allen, DVM
Dr. Allen graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine
in 2002. She worked at a small animal practice in Beavercreek, Ohio
for four years following veterinary school. She has been practicing
emergency medicine at Capital Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center
for the past two years. She has an interest in feline medicine and shelter
medicine. Dr. Allen also works at Cat Welfare doing wellness care for
the shelter cats and spay/neuter of stray and feral cats. Dr. Allen's
animal family includes three cats- Zima, Luna and Piper and two dogs-
Dakota and Lady.
Jennifer
M. Miller, DVM
Dr
Miller is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary
Medicine. During her time at OSU she developed a special interest in
emergency medicine, and began working here at CVREC as an emergency
doctor upon graduation. She also developed a passion for shelter medicine
and spay/neuter surgery, and works part time as a spay/neuter veterinarian
at the Franklin County Dog Shelter. Dr. Miller received her Bachelor’s
Degree in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh, where she also
completed a minor in Chemistry.
Dr. Miller is originally
from Niagara Falls, NY but now considers Columbus, Ohio her home. She
has a greyhound, Odin, who is a canine blood donor at OSU as well as
a cat named Anastasia. Outside of the clinic her interests include reading,
hiking, and camping.
