Emergency Services Our emergency department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 24 hours on all holidays. Our dedicated emergency doctors and staff are ready and able to handle all types of emergencies, and we will make every effort towards delivering acute, life-saving treatment and stabilization. Once your pet has been medically treated and stabilized, we will make arrangements with you to transfer your pet back to your regular veterinarian for definitive follow-up care. All follow-up therapy necessary for your pet will be done by your regular veterinarian at their facility. When your pet leaves our hospital, all treatment information from your pet’s hospitalization will be faxed to your veterinarian’s office. If your pet’s condition does not allow an immediate transfer to your regular veterinarian, we can provide on-going care for as long as necessary. Our internal medicine and surgery departments can provide consultations if needed. Emergency patients are generally seen on a first-come-first-serve basis. However, we practice triage, which means that the sickest or most severely injured pets will be stabilized first. Patients presented to our hospital will be evaluated by our staff to determine the severity of their condition. Pets with serious problems will be quickly triaged to our treatment area for immediate assessment by our on-duty veterinarian. In the event your pet is triaged to our treatment area, your pet’s status will be communicated to you as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience in this process. Once your pet has been examined, the veterinarian will discuss the proposed diagnostic and treatment plan for your pet’s condition. At this time, a written estimate for recommend services will be presented to you.
